Relocation and Renovation of World War 1 Artillery Gun

Consultation has concluded
Council has received a request from the Murray Bridge RSL to relocate the World War 1 Artillery Gun currently on display in Diamond Park to the Murray Bridge RSL Museum for restoration.
Proposal to Relocate and Renovate the Artillery Gun
The Artillery Gun is currently located in a place where it is open to the elements, as well as to vandalism and mistreatment. The Murray Bridge RSL believe that if restoration is not carried out soon, it is likely the wooden carriage wheels will deteriorate even further, possibly causing the carriage to collapse.
The Murray Bridge RSL also consider that the current location in Diamond Park adjacent a major road intersection is no longer an appropriate place for a war memorial. The site is constrained by the road ways; increased traffic volumes; and noise impact on the people attending the ANZAC Day dawn service.
