The Rural City of Murray Bridge is proposing changes to five local by-laws, last updated in July 2017. The by-laws under review include those for: - Dogs - Local Government Land - Moveable Signs - Permits and Penalties, and - Roads.
Mayor Wayne Thorley said community feedback would ensure updated by-laws kept pace with modernised practises and community expectations. “By-laws protect the convenience, comfort and safety of members of the public and road users, prevent damage to Local Government land, preserve amenity, prevent nuisance and more," he said. “I would urge everyone in our community to read the by-laws so they know what their responsibilities and obligations are. “Anyone who feels strongly about the by-laws and can provide insight, should let us know and provide their feedback through the Let’s Talk consultation portal.”
Regular review of by-laws is required by legislation and Council began the review process in late 2021. The draft documents out for consultation have already been provided to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, along with the Dog and Cat Management Board, for feedback.
Paper copies of all documents can be found at the Murray Bridge Library and Local Government Centre - or electronically on this page.
