Call for Expressions of Interest - Independent Members of Council’s Assessment Panel

Closing date 12 July 2022

The Rural City of Murray Bridge is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public to sit on the Council Assessment Panel (CAP). The CAP is an important committee of Council with responsibility for assessing a wide range of Development Applications including (but not limited to) major commercial developments, new houses, land divisions and changes in land uses. It has a very substantial role assessing development proposals against the Planning and Design Code.

The CAP consists of four independent members and one Councillor. Meetings are held on the third Friday of the month at the Local Government Centre, 2 Seventh Street, Murray Bridge and generally commence at 10:00am (with site visits undertaken prior to the meeting).

The Council is seeking four independent members (including an independent presiding member) with knowledge of the Rural City of Murray Bridge area. Interested persons must be a Level 2 Accredited Professional and should ideally possess experience in the planning industry and/or qualifications in one or more of the following fields:

  • Urban and Regional Planning
  • Architecture and Design
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Environmental Management

or any other field that is relevant to the activities of the CAP.

The Presiding Member will also need to have significant experience in chairing meetings and a working knowledge of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017.

Council pays sitting fees for the independent members of CAP. Ordinary independent members will be paid a sitting fee of $350 per meeting while the Presiding Member will be paid $550 per meeting.
