Dogs are such an important part of many families’ lives and the Rural City of Murray Bridge is looking to further enhance the wellbeing of our best friends. All dogs need to be exercised and their lives enriched by experiencing the great outdoors.

We invite you to take part in a study to explore opportunities for dogs to be off-leash in the Rural City of Murray Bridge. This study is in response to an action in the current Animal Management Plan 2020-2025 (see Action Plan 8: Dogs in Council Reserves and Other Public Places).

Your contribution via an online survey will help us understand your preferences for and guide the future directions of off-leash areas within the Rural City of Murray Bridge. We encourage all residents within the Council area to complete the survey, as it will guide us in how we manage dogs in Council Reserves.

In this study, an off-leash area refers to both a designated fenced dog park (dog parks) and other off-leash opportunities such as time-share arrangements.

Dog time-share areas are where dogs can be off-leash at specific times, but must be on-leash at all other times. One example of a time-share arrangement may be where other users such as sporting clubs use a reserve for organised sports or training.

Under the Rural City of Murray Bridge’s current provisions, dogs can only be off-leash in the four designated fenced dog parks:

Refer to the map for the location of the fenced dog parks.

The survey will take a few minutes to complete and focuses on questions about the existing fenced dog parks, your use of fenced dog parks in the Council area, and other off-leash opportunities including time-share arrangements within the Council area.

All personal details in the survey will remain confidential.

The survey is open for 3 weeks and will close at 5pm on 26 November 2021
