This Public Consultation has now closed.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge has endorsed the Draft Adelaide Road Linear Park Concept Plan for public consultation.

The plan aims to provide an attractive, inviting entrance to the Murray Bridge township.

The upgrade will enhance the look and experiences offered in the area, improve safety and access, and attract increased utilisation by both residents and visitors to Murray Bridge. Adelaide Road provides one of the main entrance corridors into the town centre of Murray Bridge and currently lacks cohesiveness and character, with no sense of arrival or place. This project seeks to remedy this.

The study area includes the portion of Adelaide Road between Agricultural Road to the west and Maurice Road to the east, covering a distance of approximately 1.7km.

Council has developed a draft Adelaide Road Linear Park Concept Plan which is now available for community consultation. Features of the draft concept plan include:

  • Establish a continuous shared use pathway along the length of the reserve
  • Provide safe road crossings of Adelaide Road
  • Potential for public art to be embedded into the shared use pathway or a continuous element along the length of the reserve
  • Public art or amenity nodes in locations along the reserve
  • Enhance existing tree avenues
  • Increase landscape amenity and planting under trees
  • Retain on street car parking along the southern edge of the reserve and respond to adjacent land uses and trip attractors
  • Remove on street parking along the southern edge of Adelaide Road
  • Retain on street car parking along the northern edge of Adelaide Road and provide street tree planting in kerb protuberances
  • Kerb and gutter along Adelaide Road for Stormwater management
  • Potential to include traffic calming measures along Adelaide Road Service Road
  • Potential for stormwater cleaning and water quality improvement on site
  • Potential to realign Bremer Road through the open space perpendicularly to reduce vehicle conflicts and improve sight lines
  • Include adjacent land owners and stakeholders in the development and implementation of the reserve improvements to increase sense of ownership
  • Continue management and revegetation of native vegetation areas

Following the community consultation a report will be brought back to Council on the outcomes of the consultation process and for endorsement of the Draft Adelaide Road Linear Park Concept Plan.

Come along to our workshops from 2.30pm until 6.30pm on Thursday 6 April 2017 at Murray Bridge Marketplace or from 9.30am until 11.30am Saturday 8 April 2017 at the Truck Driver's Memorial on Adelaide Road.
