Future Cat Management Framework

Project Overview

The Rural City of Murray Bridge is inviting residents, businesses and community groups to have their say on the future of cat management across the region.

Council has launched a community survey to better understand local experiences with cats, as well as community expectations around responsible cat ownership and how cats could be managed into the future.

The consultation follows a Council decision in June 2026 to undertake community engagement to assess the need for, and community expectations around, cat management in our Council area.

The survey seeks feedback on issues including roaming cats and their impacts, responsible cat ownership, possible management measures, practical barriers, and the priorities for Council as it moves forward with cat management.

The community survey is designed to capture the experiences and perspectives of individual residents, businesses and organisations.

Feedback gathered through the survey will also help inform further stakeholder engagement, with the overall findings to be considered by Council as it determines whether future cat management initiatives are needed.
