Consultation has concluded

Monarto residents are being asked to imagine a fresh and authentic identity for their township, to promote and build on the character of the region and to support community pride.

A series of community meetings to launch a three year Outer Towns program to focus on development of local townships in consultation with those communities, will be undertaken Thursday 18 November.

Rural City of Murray Bridge Chief Executive Officer Michael Sedgman said revitalisation of Murray Bridge’s identity with a fresh new look and feel, supported by entrance upgrades and Council facilities to entice visitors and bolster community pride, had brought new life to the river town.

“Now it’s time for our townships to shine and share in creating their own character, complementary of the broader regional identity,” he said.

“We want to hear from the people who live and work here, what they think their township is most known for, what are their townships characteristics that make it truly special and what they’re most proud of.

“Conversations with community are vital for planning what the future of our Rural City will look like and the steps we need to take to get there.”

Mr Sedgman said Outer Towns engagement opportunities would include community meetings, meetings with Council representatives and partner organisations, and an online survey.

“Once people let us know what they think the identity of their township should be, we will create a township brand with complementary projects we can all be proud of,” he said.

“Everyone has the opportunity to contribute and help create a viable a bright future: Monarto - Make It Yours!”
