Consultation has concluded

In May 2020, the South Australian Parliament passed legislation which lifted the moratorium on production of Genetically Modified (GM) crops within the state of South Australia.

The legislation provides an opportunity for each individual Council area in SA to make an application to the Minister for Primary Industries to be designated a non-GM area, with the final decision to be made by the Minister.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge are currently considering whether to proceed with this application.

In order to assist Council in making an informed decision, a five (5) minute online survey has been created and is now open for residents of the Rural City of Murray Bridge to complete. It aims to gain information on the views of persons engaged in primary production, or other industry that may be impacted by this decision.

The information gathered from this survey will be used to inform the Council’s path forward.
