An iconic silo mural in Murray Bridge will create a spectacular focal point on the town’s horizon, boost local tourism and connect us to Australia’s largest outdoor gallery the Silo Art Trail.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge has secured Federal funding of $88,500 from the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) program to deliver a silo mural artwork at the Viterra grain silos.

The location of the silos is adjacent Hume Reserve (Pomberuk), an important Ngarrindjeri site. The silos are visible from different locations around town including Railway Terrace, the CBD, the Road Bridge Mannum Road and the east side of the river.

We envisage the silo mural artwork will be a ‘centrepiece’ or ‘beacon’ artwork that will also connect to a growing number of artworks within walking distance in the Murray Bridge CBD.

The first stage of the project is to develop a theme for the artwork that best represents our identity, our aspirations and our values to ensure that it inspires local pride and communicates to our visitors who we are.

Here is your opportunity to be involved and provide us with your thoughts on what is unique about Murray Bridge by completing this short survey. The results will help inform the artist that will be commissioned to undertake the work. Parties wishing to make a Gift in-kind to the project are encouraged to speak to the project contact.

The survey will close Friday 10 December
