Call for Expressions of Interest - Independent Members of the Strategic Planning and Development Policy Committee

Closing date 12 July 2022

The Rural City of Murray Bridge is seeking expressions of interest from persons who wish to be considered for the vacant positions of Presiding Member and Independent Members (three positions in total) on the Strategic Planning & Development Policy Committee (SPDPC).

The role of the SPDPC is to develop strategic planning and development policy, strategic plans, council policies, and initiate projects for the orderly and sustainable development for all areas of Council taking due regard of regional differences and community expectations.

The Committee consists of 6 members, three of whom are independent with one of those Independent Members also filling the role of Presiding Member and three Elected Members of Council.

Meetings are held quarterly at the Local Government Centre, 2 Seventh Street, Murray Bridge and generally commence at 6:00pm on Wednesdays, although additional meetings may be required depending on the workload of the Committee at any given time. A copy of the Committee’s Terms of Reference is available here or at the Council office.

QUALIFICATIONS & INTEREST

Interested persons should ideally possess experience in the planning and development industry and/or qualifications in one or more of the following fields – town planning, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, community development or any other field that is relevant to the activities of the SPDPC.

The Presiding Member will ideally have experience in chairing formal meetings. The Presiding Member will receive a payment of $550 per meeting, and Independent Members will receive a payment of $350 per meeting.
