Consultation has concluded.

https://letstalk.murraybridge.sa.gov.au/35310/documents/75801Council is inviting you to share your views on the proposed design of Swanport Road.

The design of the Swanport Road Entry applies the four community aspirations, identified as being key to the town:

  • Sense of Arrival
  • Character
  • Streetscape Design, and
  • Community Spirit.

The design will enhance the local character of the area in an upgraded and memorable entry landscape that is engaging for residents as well as visitors to the town. It will feature improved movement networks, landscaped verges, street tree planting, improved amenities and lighting, as well as artworks and signage at main entries and nodes.

You can review the plans here (also found in the document library to the right) and provide your feedback in the information box below.

The consultation is open until Friday 11 May 2018.

Hi, can I just say that my wife and myself are BIG supporters of the proposed roundabout at Long Island Road intersection, as that is directly opposite our house, and leaving our driveway during school run is a bit of a trial at the moment. So, yes please!
Also, the link to Swanport Road proposals on this page does not appear to working.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide input.

I live on swanport Rd close to the freeway exit and believe that the entrance to the town is in need of an inviting upgrade. The plans look fantastic. Especially the much needed improvement to pedestrian walkways

The planned Round about at the High school was s long overdue almost 6 years ago

It looks pretty good :)
It will be really great if the power lines were under ground, however, failing that, please do not plant the trees directly beneath the power lines.

Make it 60km/h being the main thoroughfare through town that it is.

3m shared path on eastern side of Swanport Rd for Northern End/Stage 2 is just a pipe dream north of the high school - it just wont fit.

Also need a turning lane into Homburg Dr heading south along Swanport Rd just like the ones turning into Hill St and Galway Ave. Anyone who has had to wait on that corner for oncoming traffic while a semi-trailer comes thundering up behind you and just squeezes past on the inside would agree.

I cant see any public toilets anywhere in these plans - surely that is a basic public amenity needed in this area.

I would like to see an overpass for pedestrians over Swanport road near the hospital, at the moment the only pedestrian crossing is up near the IGA and I feel we should have one near the hospital. An overpass would not restrict traffic near the roundabout, plus it would help people wanting to visit the hospital or Community Health.

Ok, what are you trying to achieve?
What does Murray Bridge represent?
We have a river, much like other townships. What brings people to Murray Bridge? With all the works are we becoming a cycling and walking friendly township, one that is close to the city. Did you know Murray Bridge was the biggest rail interchange in South Australia, could we build on that upon entry of Murray Bridge? Murray Bridge hhas an ageing population, could we have more public seating/ bus pick ups. There are alot of personal mobility scooters , we need more pedestrian friendly footpaths. We still need more greener streetscapes, a wider variety of trees planted. More light down Bridge street so it doesn't look deserted. Safety lighting would be needed down the verge that is being created down Adelaide road. If we are to become a cycle friendly township we need better roads they are very undulating and patchy.

Please don’t just consider the roundabout & extending Ridge Rd, it needs to be done! I have lived on Ridge Rd for 29 years & it is bedlam trying to get onto Swanport Rd at School times! This would benefit all the Bird Aviary area, Pathways, all this side of Long Island Rd really! I have seen so many near misses, because it takes so long to get out.

Thank you, I have been waiting for the roundabout at Long Island Rd/Swanport Rd intersection for 20-30 years & with Ridge Rd extended to connect is fantastic. 29 year Ridge Rd resident thanks you! It will be much safer for us come School times πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I think it’s a great plan apart from extending ridge road. I think for the few houses this will mainly benefit it is a waste of money. Turn that horrible ugly corner into a beautiful area and nature playground like mannum Road.
