Consultation has concluded

THE YOUNG and young at heart are being asked to imagine what their ideal playground might look like, and complete a survey to help Council redesign two in Murray Bridge.
The Rural City of Murray Bridge is asking residents to identify what features they’d like to see included in the Torrens Road Reserve playground upgrade.
Baker Reserve playground at Wellington was recently transformed with a makeover including flying fox, outdoor gym equipment and more, after the Council was swamped with suggestions in a similar consultation last year.

Chief Executive Officer Heather Barclay urged residents to get involved again and let the Council know what they would like to see in the local playgrounds.
“We know from recent community workshops, and from the Baker Reserve consultation last year, that families and residents are really passionate about their communities and have some great ideas about how we can make the best use of recreation spaces,” she said.

Ms Barclay said the Council owned and maintained 19 public play spaces which promoted imagination, independence, creativity and provided opportunities for developing social skills and learning.
“Playgrounds are an important building block in the liveability of our communities,” she said.
“They’re not just for children, but for the whole family and can now include features for adults and carers like barbeques, shade, shelter, water, bike racks, paths and trails.”

Ms Barclay said after identifying the next playground in need of revitalisation she was eager to learn what suggestions the community might come up with.
“Rather than Council deciding what we think would work best, we’d like residents complete the survey and tell us what they want to see,” she said.
“If you’d like to see musical equipment, a uniquely shaped climbing structure, Indigenous heritage or any other elements included, fill out the survey and let us know.”

These consultations open today and close 5pm Saturday 14 October 2022.
