Consultation has concluded
Community Centre Management Opportunity
Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from Community Groups or Community Associations to manage the Edwards Square Community Centre (formally Senior Citizens) and is asking interested parties to download the Request for Tender documentation.
The Council has an endorsed Strategic Plan 2020-24 which commits to ensuring that community aspirations are incorporated into addressing identified issues. When the Murray Bridge Senior Citizen’s Club was handed back in May 2021, Council worked closely with key stakeholders to ensure the future use of the centre was in line with the identified needs of the community.
An identified need exists for well-located and easily accessible meeting spaces within the Town Centre and this centre located in Edwards Square provides the opportunity for a not for profit organisation or community Association to take on the role of tenancy manager.
Within the building is a large meeting room capable of seating 100 plus persons a small kitchen and male and female toilet facilities. In addition, there are two small meeting rooms.
Council is seeking to optimise and maximise future usage and community benefit of the centre during business hours, evenings and weekends and as such is seeking a tenancy manager that can demonstrate they can achieve this aim.
Edwards Square Community Centre and the surrounding Edwards Square has the opportunity to be activated, via a multi-purpose community centre and Council is keen to explore all avenues of potential management for the centre.
It is Council’s vision to increase utilisation by allowing multiple community groups and special interest groups to access to the Community Centre as well as providing an opportunity for the delivery of a variety of programs that benefit the broader community.
A Briefing Session is to be conducted on 10.00 am (Adelaide Time) Tuesday 23 November 2021 at Edwards Square Community Centre, 2 South Terrace Murray Bridge.
Interested parties that can demonstrate the ability to partner with Council to deliver the outcomes sought are encouraged to contact Debra Scott, Business Partner Procurement to obtain a copy of the Request of Tender documents.
Request for Tender closes 3.00 pm (Adelaide Time) Friday 17 December 2021.
