Sunnyside Road

SUNNYSIDE residents and property owners are being asked to provide feedback on a plan for Sunnyside Road, after a feasibility report was produced, instigated by a resident petition.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge is undertaking the Sunnyside Road Consultation to seek community feedback on the preferred management option for the access road.

General Manager Infrastructure and Environment Thuyen Vi-Alternetti said “There are quite a few residents and property owners in the Sunnyside area and the Council is hoping to engage as many as possible to ensure we have strong community representation on this matter,” she said.
“Sunnyside Road is significantly impacted when it rains and the residents asked us to address this as a priority through a petition.
“We’ve taken a detailed look at it with a targeted feasibility study and believe we have found an ideal solution.”

The Council’s preferred option incudes:
- Sunnyside Road remains unsealed
- 5% crossfall (maximum allowed for a road of this type)
- 3 metre single lane with 0.5 metre unsealed shoulder
- 0.3 metre swale on western side (copes with a 5 year Average Recurrence Interval (ARI) event)
- Two passing bays near mid-length of road (increase road with to 6 metre wide for 10 metre with a 10 metre transition at start and end)

Public consultation opens today and will close 5pm Friday 2 February 2024.
